What is DSC?

Digital Signature (DSC) is a physical signature in an electronic format. Digital Signature Certificates are helpful in validating the personal information of the individual holder of such certificate when conducting online business.A DSC provides a high level of security for online transactions by ensuring absolute confidentiality of information.

A digital signature certificate (DSC) consists of information about the name of applicant, pin code, country, email address, date of issuance of certificate and name of the certifying authority. Just as handwritten signature is used for signing the physical documents, DSC is used to sign electronic records such as e-forms etc.

Documents required for Digital Signature Certificate

  1. Individuals-

  1. PAN card
  2. Aadhar card
  3. Passport size photograph
  1. Organizations-

      • PAN of an Organisation
      • Certificate of Incorporation/ Partnership deed
      • Authorised Signatory ID Proof
      • Authorised Signatory Address Proof
      • Business Registration Certificate

Validity & Renewal of Digital Signature Certificate

  • DSCs are usually valid for 1 or 2 years but these can be renewed in form & fees as may be prescribed by central government.
  • The request for DSC renewal shall be made in not less than 45 days before the expiry of validity period of DSC.
